Britt Goddard

I have been an First Aid Trainer for over 25 years.

It all started when I worked for British Gas customer services. I was the dedicated first aider for the office, wanting to do more so I joined St John Ambulance as a brigade member. I then slowly moved up the ranks and over a period of a few years, I became Acting Division Superintendent.

I thank St John Ambulance for all the training they have given me, as during my time with them, I completed;

  • City and Guilds teaching certificate
  • NVQ level 2

As well as other courses like lifting and handling, out on duty courses etc.

After leaving British Gas, I joined a training company teaching first aid in the workplace (FAW) as well as paediatric first aid. After a good 18.5 years, I joined Busy Bees doing what I love to do, which is educating all members of staff with basic life skills through first aid and paediatric first aid.

Steve Manifold

First Aid has been a large part of my life as I have been involved in First Aid and an active member of St John Ambulance for over 40 years.

During this time, I became a trainer and have taught both First Aid and Fire Safety to all different age ranges across a variety of settings, including large corporate companies to small independent businesses.

In my spare time, I still volunteer for the St John ambulance where I am the South Staffordshire Area Manager and Advanced First Aider.  I regularly provide First Aid cover at events such as Stoke City and Wolverhampton Wanderers football matches, theatre shows, pop concerts and festivals.

Michael Ashforth

I have been involved in First Aid training for over 17 years. I initially started training in sports and took various qualifications in First Aid for the football association (FA).  From there I moved into adult teaching with a national training provider where I  undertook further qualifications in moving and handling, de-fib and Fire Safety.

During this time, I started volunteer work with East Anglian community responders, which I still do today. I joined Busy Bees in 2015 and love every minute of it.

Belinda Wilson

I am an experienced First Aid trainer, with over 15 years experience within both the public and private sector across a variety settings including foster carers, respite sites and schools.

I have also been delivering Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training to both large and small companies as they are becoming more common within the workplace.

My career started as a lifeguard teaching swimming to all ages.  I progressed to teaching life-guarding and first aid after completing my qualification.

I spent 6 years at David Lloyd Leisure where I set up a swimming school, taught life guarding to various clubs which included first aid and De-fib training.

Then I went into teaching full time first aid, AED, fire safety and manual handling courses.

Phil Harwood-Long

I have been involved in First Aid for the last 48 years, starting with my time in the Venture Scouts.

My career started with a 30 year tenure with British Airways (formally B.O.A.C) way back in 1973.

We studied a slightly unusual form of first aid known as ‘Aviation Medicine’ on top of the usual aspects of first aid, we were also authorised to administer medication to passengers who may be taken ill during flight. Defib and Paediatric care were also included in our training along with auto injector administration and tourniquet procedures.

On retiring from BA in 2003, I joined a first aid training company and taught all aspects of first aid from large national companies to self employed individuals .

I am passionate about the subject and I am a great advocate for getting first aid to be taught as an on-going subject in our schools.
